Tango Tour
to Buenos Aires with
Andres & Meredith: April 20-29, 2009

From April 20-29, 2009, Andres & Meredith will show you the
best of Buenos Aires--from a tanguero’s perspective, of course.
This is your chance to immerse yourself in the city of Buenos Aires
and its many different tango scenes in the company of a native who
has been part of the tango community in BA for over 20 years. Andres
grew up in the Villa Crespo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, dancing
in some of the very clubs that we’ll attend on the tour (Villa
Malcolm, Club Fulgor, and Club Sunderland, for example). Of course,
Andres is renowned as a dancer of “nuevo tango,” so
in addition to attending traditional venues, tour participants will
get to dance in the practicas and alternative milongas where cutting-edge
innovations are still happening in tango on a daily basis. In addition,
you’ll benefit from Meredith’s experience as a foreigner
who moved to Buenos Aires, lived there for three years, and speaks
the language fluently.
The tour cost includes:
--9-nights accommodation (double occupancy) in La Luna Llena suites
in Palermo. Each spacious suite contains a bedroom with two beds,
a living room that integrates a fully equipped kitchen, a large
bathroom (with jacuzzi and separate shower), and a balcony with
a hammock, table and chairs. A TV, DVD player and CD player are
available in each room. There is a large terrace with a sundeck
and parrilla on top of the building for common use;
--Entrance to the milongas and practicas that are part of the group’s
itinerary (including at least one milonga with live music);
--12 hours of group classes (arranged specially for tour participants
in the location where we’re staying) with outstanding traditional
and nuevo tango teachers;
--Excursion outside the city to eat incredible asado;
--Special farewell dinner at our favorite restaurant in the world;
--Excursion outside the city to eat incredible asado;
--Accomplished Argentine dancers who will assist the group in milongas
and group classes;
--Excursions to shop for shoes, clothes and CDs (you pay for your
purchases, of course);
--Airport transfers in Argentina;
--24-hour availability of Andres and Meredith for translation, recommendations,
problem-solving, you-name-it (just give us a few hours to sleep
each day, please).
All of the above is included in the tour price of $1,750 per person
(if paid in full by January 15). If paid between January 15 and
April 1, the price will be $1,850. Add $450 for single occupancy.
A deposit of $250 reserves your place. Please note that all prices
are in US dollars.
Additional services available at extra cost:
--Private or small group Spanish language lessons;
--Private tango lessons (let us know who you want to study with,
and we’ll set it up; or ask us for recommendations);
--Yoga, Pilates, Body Awareness, and Women’s Technique classes.
Not included in price:
--airfare;
--travel insurance;
--most meals;
--taxi, bus, and subway fare.
